They're just ridiculously overpriced status symbols. The Wrangler used to be a reasonably-priced, simple off-roader that *could* be upgraded to a relatively decent posh cruiser (a la Cher's in Clueless) Now they're just fucking stupid, considering how much they cost. The Gladiator even moreso. With the new massively expensive, gas-guzzling Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer line, Jeep is now just an absolute embarrassment, IMO. Yes, the 1st-gen Compass was bad, but at least it was cheap.
