Was it moreso the second-gen ones that had the transmission issues, leading to them vanishing from the roads much quicker?

#1, I think so? But I haven't seen either in a very long time.

#1, I think it was both. In fact, pretty much all FWD Chryslers with automatic overdrive transmissions have had that issue.

#3, Does that translate to Chrysler FWD automatic transmissions with Autostick? My dad's Pacifica here in Florida had the transmission selector fail, requiring the replacement of a single little component in the linkage. (The transmission wouldn't shift out of Park)

The mechanic stated that the OEM component was flawed, and Chrysler had an updated one to replace it; however, he said I should go for an aftermarket component, as even the updated replacement from Chrysler wasn't totally fixed. He had a specific supplier for the aftermarket component, and it was actually cheaper. At one point in the process, he actually pulled out a small cardboard box that contained about 30 of these same components he had taken out of other failed Chrysler Autostick transmission shift linkages.
