It's a late '80s - early '90s GM car with a column shifter. That would make it a mid-size or full-size sedan.

i got up to an indicated 110mph while doing about 25mph in the rain, the wheels were wildly spinning in 5th

#26, It's a pretty good indicator of a column shift. Floor shifter with indicators on the guages is unusual, and I don't think you would have seen it in a late '80s-early '90s GM product.

camrys have floor shifters and the gear gauges on the dashboard, at least the older gen ('95) do
