Maybe he wants an economical, yet sporty Pontiac. He's a Pontiac man. The Sunfire is the only car they make that falls into those categories.

#100 Yeah, but I want even my "reliable" car to have somethin' goin' for it. Why else would I put a flame grill on an '86 Caprice?

#101, I wouldn't put green and white stripes on her red car.

Her wheels are far from Mexican anyways...nice thick 16" tires, no rubber bands.

These are her wheels: 12280

#103 It's either that or save an extra $3k for a mid-nineties Grand Prix SE. Which is always an option. =)

Sunfires are reliable, there's 60K on ours and the only problem was that the power sunroof got stuck open once, and it needed a little motor replaced that was covered under warranty.

#108, HAHA!! No, we want BASIC, factory-type stripes. Her car came without them.

#109 I only dig the SE with the thin headlights and chunky ground FX. Just plain mean lookin'.

SE - 2.2. It's not at all fast, but it's very reliable, looks nice, has great options, and gets decent gas mileage.

When you have to pay off a load of college loans and you just got married, speed doesn't seem as important.

That'll come later when we restore our late-60's Stang. :)

#113 Works for me. I'm in the whole "just got a nice job/want a more economical yet still quick car" category, so if given the chioce, I'd take the 2.4. My brother has a '98 Z24 that goes like a bat outta hell for a 4. But then, it's out of an undercover cop car (he blew the first one at 125mph.)

It was the thing that would take us away from what we were, to a place we'd never been before. An object of lust, a companion, a soulmate. In this place, there were no parents, no clocks, no commitments, no worries. Everyone would be new, and we would be new to everyone. Around every corner there would be promise, and hope, and a clear, unobstructed view of the future. A place we'd live in forever, and the friends, or person, we'd spend the rest of our lives with...that's what our cars meant to us once.

Then...as time went by, things changed. One car after another, until gradually, almost imperceptable to the human eye, our family, and our job, and a hundred other responsibilities, important and mundane, followed us into that car, filling it up, so that there was no room left for us, rendering it practical, logical, and finally, invisible. Suddenly we knew what to expect, and what was around every corner. And quietly, subtly, we ceased to look.

Could anything ever make us feel that way again? Can the clock be turned back? Could we ever regain that special feeling? A feeling of freedom, and opportunity, and possibility... is there a way to feel like a kid in a go-kart again? Where our car is not family, not job, but a thing of powerful and interesting possibility? Maybe there is. After 45 years, the affair continues. The Porsche Boxster.

^^^ Text from a Porsche Boxster promotional video from when it was first launched at international car shows back in the mid-90s. The text was spoken/narrated by Patrick Stewart, and they had really inspirational-style music in the backround...I have the video on my computer... 32.8mb...over 4 minutes.

I got it on a promotional CD-ROM with that video on it back in the late '90s...

#118, Hmmm...that video is one of the things I wanna get off the old Acer...
In the coming weeks, I'll probably head to CompUSA, and see what would be the most cost-effective way for them to give me the ability to grab files off of it.
