Some would argue that the 914 wasn't exactly Porsche's shining achievement, either. And then there's the 944 N/A models..

The Boxsters are nowhere near as sucky as the cars (and stupid truck, SUV, POS) mentioned in #1 and #2. I'd drive one if it weren't for insurance rates and repair costs.

I just don't think Porsche should have made this. The SUV is at least capable of 160mph, which kicks ass for an SUV. But when they made the Boxster and put the price in reach of your average Joe Blow, it just pissed me off. Now anyone with 40 grand can go out and buy a new Porsche. Most Boxster drivers I have encountered are assholes. They think they are cool because they have a Porsche.
To me, Porsches should stay out of reach of the average driver, they should stay at or above the the $65,000 Dollar mark. Of course, being a Porsche lover, I am somewhat biased. <looks at picture> AND ANOTHER THING!!! THE BOXSTER LOOKS LIKE ASS! Who decided to put one tailpipe right in the middle? It looks like the car has an asshole. For a comparable amount you could buy a much better looking/performing car. A Z06 Corvette, a used Viper, a Supra Twin Turbo (Don't say it McMunkee, I don't want to hear it), or even a used 80's Ferrari (if your lucky).

#5, If they hadn't made it, they probably would've gone out of business in the mid-90's. The Boxster probably saved Porsche.

Lets name off the cars you could get that are much better:
-Used Viper
-Corvette Z06
-Supra TT
-300ZX TT
-3000GT VR-4

So it's overpriced? It's a PORSCHE! You're paying for the name with companies like that.
And what the heck are you talking about in #5? If you're worried about anyone attacking you for mentioning a Jap car, it's TinIndian, not me.

I agree, you are paying for the name, which is sad... And hopefully all Boxsters will burn in car hell... EXCEPT the RUF one because it actually has the balls to cover for the ugly looks.

I don't mind Porsche making an more affordable, basic-level car as much as the SUV. Porsche has built itself up as one of the greatest sports car companies in the world, and they stoop to the levels of the current trend of SUVs. What happens if station wagons become the big trend next year? Will they make a wagon then? They shouldn't mess with their heritage like that.

Ok, correction to number 5: TinIndian, and anyone else who tries to bring up the discussion that a Supra TT is not the end-all-be-all. I know it's not, but for the dollar it is damn good performance.

Nah, just think it was a mistake for Porsche to make its cars available to everyone with 45 grand. Then again, I am a Porsche freak.
