does anyone know how to lower it without messing up the background? i know Skid posted how he did it but I didn't really understand it and i can't find that post

#1, select from the bottom of the car upward and crop everything that is good in the pic. Its also easier than cutting out the whole car.

I usually just cut out between the wheelwells and the tire. Since my selection obviously has to pass somewhere through the background of the picture, I try to set it up in such a way that the distortion isn't too obvious (and I use a little bit of a blur to get rid of the line).
