OK, more on safety. Modern rally cars are the safest race cars in the world IMO. Look at this:

Argentina, 2004. Markko Martin's Focus WRC hit a stone while going through a crest at close to 200kph. The car rolled multiple times. The crew came off unscathed o_O The driver was complaining of neck pain. In 2005 HANS was introduced. No more neck pains.

#61, Nascar has had HANS since 2001. ...and Nascar drivers have flipped their cars too... back in 2003, Elliott Sadler was going 195mph, got spun out, and his car flew straight up in the air about 20 feet, then slammed back down to the ground, then hit the banking, and flipped about 6 or 7 times. Walked out without a single injury save for a bruised ego.
