#18, We test drove a used one at a CARMAX dealer in Florida while I was there on vacation. She's like me--there is no way in Hell she'd buy a "sports car" with an automagic.
It's irrelevant, though, because she certainly couldn't afford one at this point, although she's getting a bit frustrated because the Eclipse hit a point where a few things (just basic stuff like belts, plugs and wires, O2 sensors, etc.) needed to be replaced all at about the same time. |

#22, If I can learn to drive a manual, including learning how to do heel-toe downshifts, I think just about any spaz could figure it out eventually. It's just a matter of giving it enough gas as the clutch starts to grab.
My favorite trick, which works on most cars, is to find the engagement point on the clutch by letting it out reeeeaaalllly slowly (on a flat surface) and get the car rolling in first gear without touching the gas pedal at all. It allows you to focus on just one thing, and once you get the feel for it, it's a bit easier to learn how to balance throttle and clutch inputs.
Of course, the Mustang, with tons of throttle response, a good bit of idle torque, and a cable clutch, makes it pretty easy for me.

#23, I must be worse than you because I can't seem to lear to heel&toe downshift. I just can't swing my foot out, the footwell is too small, the pedals are on the wrong level... I don't know. I just can't.
Luckilly, I found a list on what to concentrate on first so I don't worry about it. |

#25, I had to shim/bend my gas pedal a little to be able to hit the pedal properly. I sometimes do it just to blip the throttle for smoother downshifts under braking. |

#26, Now I just walk down through the gears with a lot of clutch slippage. Might ditch the walking though.
For now I'm concentrating on other stuff. The list I found goes like this: Line, Smoothness, Consistency, Exit Speed, Entry Speed, Other (including h&t). |
