#17, yep - my '84 Nissan truck started rusting after 5 years... they didn't galvanize the steel back then which is a problem in Michigan. Also my '95 Nissan had a small bit of rust in the front quarter panel and it was only 3 yearas old when I bought it... |

#18, true that. True that. We got discounts on all of our Explorers. My mom divorced after we got the 98 Explorer. We got the A plan discount. My grandpa Stacy worked for Ford from the mid 60's through 1986. He also worked for AMC, and Chrysler, and Ford of Australia. |

my '86 MCSS has been a major money pit - but the previous owners were hillbillies who didn't know what the eff they were doing... on the other hand the body is rust free. |

Also have a Acura 3.2TL now. Car and Driver ranked it as one of the best Sports Sedans they have ever driven, and would easily beat out all competition if it had one thing changed, if it was rear wheel drive.
I completely agree with them. The TL is one of the best cars I've ever driven, but 270HP is a little to hefty to be putting through the front tires.
Can't really comment on the reliability on the TL though as I've only had it for about 4 months. So far only gas has gone it to it. |

Almost without exception, cars are much more rustproof nowadays, from everyone, than they were 10 years ago, let alone 20 or 30. My dad can remember in the 50's, that a car would start to rust out after only maybe 5 years of use, and that was just from normal road salt and rain, if you kept it outside, it would start going after 2. To use his explorer again as an example, it has only one rust spot under the lip of the rear trunk where water got under some weatherstripping. Other than that, even the spot where the door got dented, it hasn't even lost the paint, let alone began to rust |

#21, same with MN. Pretty much any car before ~1995 has at least a little bit of rust on it. This morning I saw a current gen (1995+) with rust along the door sills. I also have seen NUMEROUS rusty Hondas, and older F bodys are a common fixture for rust up here. |

#25, Acura makes some very reliable cars... like most luxury divisions they try to deliver a high quality product... well excluding Mercedes these days... I'm sure the TL will be reliable for ya... not my cup of tea though... |

Somehow, my 92 Integra has avoided rust, less the muffler. Had a spot on the back that was removed last year that was along the Acura lettering. |

i prefer the new headlights MUCH more over these. its something about the big body and little round headlights don't look good in my book. not saying i wouldn't drive it, but i prefer the new lights more |

#30, Yeah the only rusty part of my 92 Accord is a patch on the muffler. Been that way since we got it new. |

I live in a so-called rust-free state, yet the Volvo has rust on it. >_< Not much, mind you, just a little bit at the bottom of the quarters near the mudflaps and a spot of it on the hood above the right headlights.
Of course, that might have something to do with the car originally being purchased in Boston.
