#19, As a general rule, centrifugal compressors (turbos, centrifugal superchargers) tend to be more efficient (less heat, less parasitic loss) than positive-displacement compressors (Roots blowers). More modern Roots-type superchargers have attempted to deal with some of the inherent inefficiencies by using stuff like screw-shaped (instead of "paddle") rotors, various coatings, and funny installations (upside-down, on some cars) to facilitate the use of an intercooler.

#20, turbos take time to spool hence giving them the power at higher rpm ranges... and how long it takes to spool is based on the compressor wheel..normally the smaller the compressor the faster it spools but the less amount of boost your going to get.. the bigger the trim of the turbo the more boost you can get but the longer it takes to spool ... finding the match for each car is differnt depending on your wants and gearing ...

#20, Generally. Although again, it's all subject to how the compressors are sized. If you stick a freaking 2L autorotor supercharger on a teeny little engine, it won't be that inefficient for the engine at higher RPMs (assuming you can turn the rotors in the first place!). Conversely, if you put a wee little turbine (like a t25) on an engine of even moderate displacement, it will practically spool right off idle, but will run out of steam at higher RPMs and generally become inefficient due to overspeeding and such.

someone once told me 5hp for 1lb of boost

OMG RICER MATH!

Eh personally I like turbos better then superchargers, but then again I'm baised. =)
I'm also not a fan of the way a centrifugal supercharger builds boost (psi increase being relevant to RPM's) I'll take my laggy turbo that makes full boost by 4k and holds it to redline thank you.

#26, What size turbo are you running.. mine makes boost by about 3500

Turbos are fine for many applications, but I've never been a big fan of turbocharged engines, on the whole.

#27, PTE 50-trim, .63 A/R, stage III, TO4E. Well I guess its more like 3800-3900 but I consider that 4k.

#30, I couldn't live with my old T25 any longer! That thing would make full boost (18psi) by 2900 but died off to 13psi by 6500.

#31, ehh it holds the 11 lbs pretty much into 7grand and thats right around redline anyway and I used to run it at 14lbs but it overheated so bad.. it still does but not as quick

#32, Overheated? What type of intercooler are you using and what size is your exhaust?

Something with a weird japanese name Yakazori i think ... They were cheap and at 150 for an 18x9... some of the cars in the shop use the same ones and havent been having any problems.. and i have a 3 hks hi power exhaust ... i dunno what the problem is .. ive changed the thermostat and radiator too

#34, So the whole engine itself overheats and not just the intake charge from the turbo? Do you know how wide the intercooler is by chance?
That's kind of strange that the whole engine will overheat with that little bit of extra boost but then again I don't know SR20's that well.

the oil temp and exhaust gas temp go way over to really hot and i asked around and on some sr boards and they say that its too hot ... and they suggested everything ive already done ... they say the swap does have over heating issues but damn it makes me wanna give up and cry that i cant drive the car for longer then a half an hour for fear of breaking something really exspensive

That sucks, well I wish you luck trying to cure that problem. Maybe an ugly but VERY useful vented hood would help. I've been wanting one for sometime now, even if it makes the car look a little ricey. Function over form.

ehh i did a drag once at this abandoned airfield without a hood once.. seemed to help a little.. im thinking maybe new hoses and a differnt sort of antifreeze will help ... but thanks on the wishing me luck thing

You could always try a higher mixture of water over anitfreeze, something like 85% water 15% AF. Just don't forget too change it back after it starts getting cold outside, hehe.
