Description:
I was just wondering, what if Mercury got a rebadged version of the new Ford Mustang...what would it look like?

My apologies to Lemming for mutilating his work. :(

What would it be called? Cougar? Capri? ...actually, seeing the way Mercury is naming their cars these days, it'd be named after a town starting with the word "M"...

Mercury Minneapolis? :P

How about the Mercury Mercury? And they could offer a special "There I Said It Twice" package.

#4, Or they could sabotage its sales by calling it the Mercury Merkur. :P

#12, Not really mediocre, it's just a live-axle, a highly advanced one, IIRC...

In my opinion, Mustangs are still built to go fast in a straight line, and they keep the live axle to help on the launch and throughout straight-line acceleration.
The SVT Cobra, whenever the hell it'll be introduced, with its IRS, will be a pretty damn fine handling car.

Ok, so we've gotten names for it, I'm just curious what people actually think of how I altered it...

#13, Road tests so far have placed it as a much better handling car than the "super high tech" 350z, and it's faster and the same price to boot. Also better looking, at least to me. A lot of people don't care for the new Mustang's styling.

#14, Well, it looks like a Mercury Mustang, if that's what you want to know. Needs more bubble butt, though.

#15, I LOVE the new Mustang's styling.

#16, I actually tried to strap on a bubble to this thing's butt, but I couldn't get it to look right... but hey, that didn't stop the designers of the '83-'86 Capri :P

#13, yeah yeah, but the main reason the new mustang still comes with a live axle is PRICE...try to find cheap half-shafts strong enough to handle 300hp and 320lb-ft in a low 20-grand car

AND the headlight on the right is off, and it's not just the angle, it just isn't round

#15, and i have never seen a road test where the new mustang handles better than a 350z...they always say "it handles great for a rigid-axle car", but if you look up nissan reviews, you will come across "handles like it's on rails" quite a few times
