Introduced in 1977, it was intended to replace the Mark I Chaika (You know, the one that looks like a '56 Packard), but both cars were produced for a few years due to the Mark I's popularity.

...but remember, these were cars not meant for the public. They weren't sold to the public, who wouldn't be able to afford them anyway. They were only available to high-ranking Russian Gov't officials, and the KGB.

I dunno, I've gotten interested in the Chaika ever since I won an auction for 1/43 diecast of one on eBay... I can't wait for it to show up.

Looks like a Russian 60s Continental a little bit. What kind of engines did they have?

#4, A 330hp V8 of about 7 liters displacement, IIRC. Which is part of the reason the KGB loved 'em... massive, imposing, POWERFUL... could easily ram any 'ole Volga off the road.

...and yeah, the Mark II's design was based on American sedans from the late '60s and early '70s.

#5, A 460 cu in with 330hp is pretty good. Too bad big ass cars like these aren't implemented more often these days.

Also, the Mark I Chaika's had pushbutton automatic transmissions... basically copies of the Chrysler system. Dunno if the Mark II Chaikas had them.
