Do these have tons of reliability issues, or something? They're incredibly cheap on the used market.

#3, The early Japanese luxury brands pretty much universally haven't held their value well. Early Lexuses (Lexi?) and Acuras are much the same.

#4, To be perfectly honest, I've sorta been daydreaming about going after a used J30... I quite like the styling, and they're RWD... I love my G20, and I view the J30 as the G20's bigger, cooler brother.

#5, This is true, although to a lesser extent. It's hard to find a decent condition BMW for under $3000, unless it's a very basic E21 or E30 coupe. Mercedes can be that cheap, particularly if they're diesels.

#6, There was a clean gold J30 on a car lot in town about two years ago for $3500....and I almost traded my truck for it, but in retrospect I'm glad overall I didn't.

The only thing wrong with it were a bunch of splits in the seams of the upholstery. That's apparently one problem area on J30s.

Heck, $4,000 will get you a running non-turbo 944 with only maybe a few cosmetic problems nowadays..... , serious issues like body damage or engine problems, and the price falls to $2,500, dead but fixable ones go for about $1,000 to as little as $500

I always hated the J30, mostly because of the rear end styling. The G20 looks its age, not bad, just dated. I really like the later-model, facelifted G20ts.

Apparently, if I sought out a '93-94 J30t, it'd also have 4-wheel steering... though, I'm not sure if I'd want to risk the over-complication and reliability with that...

#11, would you want something older than what you currently drive? I don't know what Florida's climate is like year round, but if you say salt eats cars, can you trust a salt-ridden older car?
