Just does not seem right to me to put a v8 in a 3 series in production atleast.

The 3-series has never had a V8 powering it.

#23, I knew that, but I don't see anything wrong with a new engine.

If it fits, put it in. If it doesn't fit, make it.

I guess that it kinda betrays its roots. I am not saying I wouldn't give my left testicle for the new M3 when it comes out but I just wish they could have done more with an inline 6.

I just see it as a natural progression of things. The original M3 used a really high-revving I4. The hallmark of the M family, especially the M3, is the high-rev concept, and even the V10 in the current M5 lives up to that.

LS* are great motors for going fast in anything. same could be said for ANY sbc. loads of aftermarket, low weight, good power, high reliability, pretty cheap too. besides being omg DUMeztick, theres nothing really wrong with it.

#29, Not to mention excellent drivability and fuel economy for the power level.
