Description:
VW Fun Cup

One of the most crazy, fun and affordable forms of close racing motorsport.
The idea is to build 3-driver teams of unlicensed amateurs or rookies, put them into identical rental (yes!) race cars and let several tenths of such teams loose on a race track.

The car uses a tubular frame chassis and plastic bodywork. The engine is a 90hp or 130p 1.8 from a 2nd gen Golf, the 5-speed gearbox comes off an Audi A4, suspension elements hail from Audi 80 and Golf Mk.2 and are coupled to Bilstein shocks. All cars run on Uniroyal rain tires and can reach a top speed of 200kph.

Excellent. Very much like the failed TRAC series here in America (comprised of franchise 3-car teams where the cars are leased from the sanctioning body, IIRC... never got out of the planning stage.)

Oh, I forgot to mention what really makes Fun Cup fun: the engine is mounted in front of the rear axle and drives the rear wheels.
