Cup car:
Peugeot 206 SX.
Ecu, cams, LOUD exhaust, good for around 130hp (110hp stock), everything from Peugeot Sport. Stock 5-speed manual, strenghtened housing.
Brakes from a 306 S16, steel lines, performance pads.
Sparco rollcage, a fragile design, criticized often.
ACME seats, harnesses. Sparco fire extinguishing system and killswitch.
Peugeot Sport unadjustable suspension: two sets, tarmac and gravel.
Michelin tires: slicks, intermediates (have to be cut to rain spec), gravel, ACME snow tires (whatever a competitor has on hand), Michelin 'cup' steelies.
That is all.

The cup is now 4 years old but still very popular. Cars are identical so there is some close and fierce competition.

#3, Around a ton. People don't seem to realize how hard it is to keep a vehicle on the road. This is why I think 600hp modded street cars are just stupid. WRC cars (space-age suspension and AWD, slicks, etc. and closed roads) have around 400-450hp and they fly off the road pretty often even though they are drive by some of the best drivers on the planet.
Oh, and that's XS not SX *lacks brain functions*

agreed Sensekhmet...

when youre scootin along on gravel/dirt/snow you just dont need all that power....its not like these things have long straight lines all over a course

over here in the north american continent were used to drag and nascar type racing where big horsepower is god.....we dont take the time to realize that suspension and feel is where the true heart of a car lies.....not in that 600 horsepower goal

Oh yeah, the only thing that matters is highway pulls and drag racin.

I have the most fun in my car when Im throwing it into corners it shouldnt be able to take and roaring out of them faster than it should be able to.

Yeah, handling is great, but just as many races are lost due to a lack of power as lack of handling.

#7, I was referring to the fact that my cars suspension is modded enough to handle relatively well for an old four door economy car. And the fact that my lowly car has more hp/ton than this racer.

I like the fact that this can probably turn like its on rails, but 130hp just bores the crap out of me. Call me jaded, but race cars should have at least 200.

#6, Can't agree with that one. When you lack handling, you can't do jack. You can't even floor it on when you want. Not to mention the risk of crashing.

#11, What I was trying to say is that its about both. I wasnt trying to downplay handling. Geez youre like the polar opposite of my Mustang driving friends that scoff at me getting into autox. "Yeah, you need cams now. Screw your brakes."

I guess you could say I look at this like you look at a 600hp street car. Yeah, love the handling, but wheres the power?

both are very important. 130hp just doesnt sound like enough to push the chassis any. 140hp is hardly enough to push my 25 year old one.

#14, Keep in mind, this is a beginner's cup. Sometimes they can't handle even what they have:
