#4, At 51% - technically it is now 'merican' as well as the existing crap they sell.
But GM thinks everyone is blind. |

#6, There isn't american about it - it just has new owners. Like home buying.
Think of the MINI and how 'English' it is. |

#7, It's half British. The parts originate from 50% Great Britain, 20% Germany, 5% Canadian/American. The final assembly point is in Oxford, Great Britian. The engine originates from Brazil and the transmission is from Germany (getrag). It's pretty exotic. In a sexy European girl kind of way. |

#8, Er, rather in a plump with pimples European girl way.
And these are made in Poland under the Lanos name for Ukrainian market. A little bonus that Daewoo left behind when they went bankrupt. Sells like hot cakes there... haven't seen a new one in Poland since Daewoo fell. |

#10, I do apologise. I should read these things more carefully. Trouble is, people bought these in their thousands over here when they were sold. I hate them so much. Shows people go for price and for the fact it can get you from A to B rather than on the basis of it being a good car |

#13, Er... if it's cheap and get you from A to B it's a good car, no? If it was expensive and/or couldn't get you from A to B on the other hand... |

#14, I suppose. But it certainly isn't anything you'd be proud to own is it? It wouldn't give you any pride in saying you own a car like that. At least that's my view. My idea of choosing a car is choosing something that want to enjoy driving. You will be driving it for x amount of years in the future. Why be stuck with what is viewed as a dud? |

#15, Pride? Opinion of other people? It's just a daily driver. From my experience I can say that 'fun' or 'cool' factor doesn't have much to do with the car itself, it's in the way you view the car... and what you do with it.
I'm having absurd amounts of fun with a car 99% of people would call a piece of shit, and I actually think it's cool in part because it is a junker. Or so most people think.

#17, And there's something else. Most people in the world don't buy the car they want... only a car they can. Can afford, maintain, park, use to carry people, stuff, etc. etc. Daewoos had great success in the beginning because they offered fairly modern cars for low prices. Yes, they had quality problems and no prestige, but they were decent daily drivers. And it turned out that there was a market for such cars. |

#18, I guess I just get too wrapped up in the idea a car must have flare and passion enstilled into it's design and make up in order to make it good. It's what makes cars like an Aston Martin or a Corvette desirable and ultimately dream cars. But take them down to their roots and they are no different to this Daewoo Lanos. They just get you from A to B. |
