I know at least one of these things lives in the UK. I've also done a bit of research on the designer of the original Avanti, Raymond Loewy. Very skilled guy he was too. Came up with the logos for Studebaker, Hoover, Shell, Exxon and helped redesign the Coca Cola bottle.

I think this is a case of absurd styling looking better as time goes on, but at the time it was new, GOOD GAWD what an ugly mug it had.
