Yeah, it was re-badge a third time and sold as an Oldsmobile

Chevy Lumina APV = Pontiac Transport = Olds Silhouette

Chevy Venture = Pontiac Montana = Oldsmobile

1st and 2nd gen GM FWD Minivans:
Chevy Lumina APV, Oldsmobile Silhoette, Pontiac Trans Port.
3rd gen GM FWD Minivans:
Chevy Venture, Olds Silhoette, Pontiac Trans Port. (The 'Trans Port' later became the 'Trans Port Montana', and then later just the 'Montana'.)
Does that clear up everything?

Amazing. Of course, I was a cool 11 years old when these things were in the showroom.

Ditto, but I was a car freak even back then...... I remember the first 3rd Gen Camaros coming out in 83, my Dad had a Red Chevy Camaro Berlinetta and traded it in a few years later for a 87' Z28 Iroc with the LT-1 T.P.I.

Heh... I could tell the difference between a Daytona and a Superbird at 11. Couldn't force myself to pay attention to regular cars until I needed one.

I don't know why, but I can name almost any post-1965 American market car you can throw at me, I'm especially good with identifying wrecked cars. (As a few of you may have noticed, from my postings.)

As I'm sure everyone whos been near any of my posts knows, I'm really hatin' the new phase of bubble cars out there today, and to see Pontiac become one of the worst offenders is really heartbreaking, this from the company that built the Firebird Trans Am, they had the talent, what happened?

I'm good back to about 1980, and can identify them in the dark just from the shape and location of headligt/trun signals or taillights, that IMPRESSES FOLKS!

I want [and have always wanted] a 1973 Ford Country Squire. Other dream cars of mine have come and gone, but that Squire has always stuck with me in my mind. Damned if I know why.

LTR.. I think companies got too obsessed with the concept cars they built... the Aztek is something that never should have seen production, except maybe as a submarine. One of my friends redesigned it for his Art & Design class.

Same here Low-Tech. I love freaking out people by naming a car on the road at night, and when we finally pull up to it, the other people in the car with me are shocked at how dead on I called the car.

Gotta love the 1975-1990 Detroit sedans, I call em the breadboxes, Delta 88's, Diplomats, New Yorkers, Caprices, Crown Vics, Grand Prixs, With the rough edges, boxy roofs, quad headlights, and every single one had a V8, *sigh*

And every single one could make a kick-ass squad car if properly tuned...man, police departments had a choice back then...now it's down to Crown Vic, Wimpala, or SUV....

I still want our old 1980 New Yorker... brown w/ black vinyl top, wire rims, 318... I still see it driving round town, it's got to be closing up on 400,000 miles now.

We got a 83' New Yorker for FREE from a neighbor who couldn't get it to stop leaking oil and wanted to wash his hands of it. I love that car, it looks like a Diplomat, so in the dark, it looks like an old NYC cop car. (I love those old ones)

I once saw an ex-fire chief's '73 Country Squire for sale in Hemmings...I wish I had snapped it up. It had the Police car handling package, claimed 350hp, 50K miles, and it was only $4000....damn it, I can't believe I missed that one.

Some small town a few miles south of here still has only one police car.. and it's an old Plymouth Satellite. It's as immaculate is a nearly 30 year old cop car can be.. it's on its fourth repaint, i think.

The oldest one I've seen in service was a 88 or so Caprice being used as a Supervisor's car in a local Municipal department that has 3 or 4 new Crown Vics, Don't you just love the front end on those??? I do. Our coroner here used to have an old Caprice to use as a Hearse/Morguemobile, my guess is you can pick em' up cheap at auction when they retire them. SOme don't see high miles.
