The one in the pictures is a 1.6l, my dad bought a 1.9 turbo diesel. 105hp, 1200kg. Renault engine and gearbox, shifter feels nice and chunky even though the linkage is of cable type. Engine feels unresponsive, it's totally dead below 1500rpm, makes uphill launches more than tricky. From 2000rpm all the way to 4000rpm there's a constant rush of torque, you can drive it perfectly well without going over 2500rpm. Sticking to that tactic, the car averaged somewhere around 5-6 litres of diesel per 100km on our holliday trip (around 1500km), it can go lower as we did a lot of city driving. Mitsubishi says it doess 0-100kph in 12 seconds and I believe it's acurate. Beefy wheels and/or powersteering make the car feel numb around the center of steering, it gets better as the lock increases, it feels totally stable though (I wouldn't be surprised if it understeered like a bitch once things would get out of hand, though). It's not a sports car, the steering isn't very precise and it can be troublesome to put it exactly where you want it but suspension is firm so it kind of evens out. It's roomy, well equipped, feels 'smart' (Volvo owners know what I mean) with gadgets like sliding rear seat, and it is comfortable. The mileage is almost at 100k km, the car was used by an Italian so it's beat up a bit. Overall it's a nice, solid car, nothing to write home about but I feel it will make a perfect daily driver. |

#4, It isn't as bad as I thought a small MPV would be. It's just a car, nothing more nothing less. Besides, it's not my car, I'd pick something different for the price, believe me.
#5, Honestly, maybe not the KJS stuff, as it is/can be rough but autocross/track day... why not? Motorsport without (absurd) humor is nothing. |

I still have to learn to launch it properly. I don't stall it anymore but any attempt at a spirited launch usually results is two skidmarks and a lot of fine rubber debris sorrounding them. And that one time I tried to launch it uphill on wet grass I actually laughed out loud. I stalled it first, then got stuck. Had to back up from the holes it dug out and try one more time.
Two factors come to mind; one, the turbo lag that I can't get used to, and second, the drive-by-wire throttle which feels numb to me. |

is it me, or do the headlights and turn signals look similar to those on Ventures/Transports/Shillouettes? |
