#1, I think you've called it correctly.
The severe oxidiation (with the exception of certain edges) and the complete destruction of the interior (which should not be this far gone, even exposed to the elements for 20 years or longer) leads me to believe that the car probably burned.

#4, Probably burned off. I don't think there was anything back there on these cars but the taillights and the black plastic panel between them.
