After reading Stephen King's Cell, I can't think of these things the same way.
I've never seen a tourist model (though I have seen military spec'ed ones), but I'm sure if I did see one the first thought that would cross my mind is "Will the driver freak out, start spouting gibberish, and broadside an ice cream truck at full speed?"

#4, Same here. King said that an abandoned truck sitting out in a field that he used to drive past frequently inspired that story....I wonder what kind of truck it really was.
