Description:
After all these years, I have an Acer Aspire again. Yippee.

2.6ghz Intel Core2Duo, 4gb RAM, 750gb hdd, Vista 64-bit...

I like it because it's only about the size and weight of a large DVD player.

The 22" widescreen LCD monitor is nice, too :)

#20, Wow, that takes balls to tell a customer their non-functioning item is functioning when it's plain to see that it isn't.

Time to start writing a few pissed-off letters, or maybe contact the Better Business Bureau.

#21, I've got a letter typed up, and it'll be mailed out to San Jose, CA, to several top-level managers at Acer America, and some people have told me I should try contacting the Florida Attorney General's office... (we have some seriously strict lemon-laws in this state)

#22, Heh, I'm going to San Jose tomorrow. Want me to leave some flaming dog poop on their doorstep? :P

...and I suppose that's it. After receiving my letter, they did a review of the "testing" done on the computer, and have come to the conclusion that nothing is wrong with the hardware, and it's purely a software issue, which the warranty doesn't cover.

All this time just for them to figure out how to screw me over on this whole deal. Fantastic. I'm really sick to my stomach over this whole bullshit ordeal. I guess I'm stuck on my laptop for the foreseeable future... no idea what the fuck I'm going to do with this damn lemon of a desktop computer.

for what it's worth, here's what i'd do. buy yourself an inexpensive HD (or use an old one if you've got a spare), take all of the drives out of that machine and load windows fresh on the second drive. If it runs properly, re-install your 'bad' drives as secondaries and back-up your data. THEN wipe the biggest drive and re-load windows onto that one and rock on from there. i've had similar issues in the past that only a clean install would fix. good luck!

#25, Friend of mine took everything I said, and told me that it's possible my problem is bigger than just a hard-drive or wireless card... it's possible the power-supply on the motherboard is faulty, which is apparently a common problem with these compact Acers... but not a damn thing I can do to prove that to Acer.

Well, I might as well update this... this computer is still sitting where it is... I use it ever so often, mostly just to interface with my external HDDs for storage and backup. I used to use it for gaming (since the laptop doesn't have a dedicated graphics card)... and it did that reasonably well... until the past year or so where it actually runs games WORSE than the laptop. Thinking the graphics card may have taken a dump.

Also, it's Vista, and it looks like most companies are stopping support for Vista... so it'll become even more useless. On the bright side, this whole ordeal forced my hand, and convinced me to move onto laptops and tablets... I'm better off.

In terms of gaming, I'm thinking of seeing how cheap I can get a Surface Pro for... they seem to have pretty damn decent specs for playing most games... with the bonus of being a handy tablet.

...and now my laptop has taken a dump. Just realized I bought it when I first got my job at the jail almost five years ago... only fitting for me to buy a new laptop now that I'm starting ANOTHER new job...

Figured I'd finally get a damned gaming computer...
Basic specs: Intel i7, 32gb RAM, NVIDIA GTX 960M 2GB, 1TB SSD... I think it'll hopefully run all the games I've Kickstarted the past half-decade...
