Description:
After all these years, I have an Acer Aspire again. Yippee.

2.6ghz Intel Core2Duo, 4gb RAM, 750gb hdd, Vista 64-bit...

I like it because it's only about the size and weight of a large DVD player.

The 22" widescreen LCD monitor is nice, too :)

Have you joined the ranks of users who despise Vista with every fiber of their being?

#1, It's different for me, but not annoying.

#3, been using that same mousepad for about 10 years now.

I've got a 22' wide acer as well. Luv it.

EDIT: I spy a nexstar 3!

#5, You are correct, sir!

Using that to transfer 365gb from the old computer to the new... basically tons of videos... Top Gear, Star Trek, about 200gb of various Anime series alone. eSATA makes transferring that much data bearable... my maximum speed with it is about 3.5gb/minute... it's made me realized how ludicrously slow USB data-transfer is.

The déjà vu train keeps right on rolling along... had a Canon printer with the old Acer Aspire, now I have a Canon printer with the new Acer Aspire.

Tossed the Lexmark in the garbage.

#5, Oh, and yeah, going back to my old eMachines to get some more files transferred off of it, I wonder to myself, how in the HELL did I get by with a 15" monitor for so long?!

#8, My first monitor was a 13". It went well with my 33 MHz 386 processor and Windows 3.1 running through DOS.

2 months and the freakin' hdd breaks... just fucking great. The PC is currently in a FedEx truck on its way to Texas to get a new hdd installed.... gotta start with a clean slate... again.

In the meantime I bought myself a little laptop, and I've been meaning to get a laptop for a while anyway... getting my DSL modem upgraded to a wireless dealy on Friday (still using my old modem and an ethernet cable with the laptop.)

This is turning into a fucking nightmare.

Get it back from the repair facility, and it is packed in a huge box, with very little packaging materials to protect it... it's scuffed to hell, and the front facia has been broken off. I'm not blaming FedEx... I'm blaming the fucking retarded monkeys in the repair facility's shipping department.

Tomorrow or Thursday, it's getting shipped out again to Texas, and I'm putting a note on the case, "Please package me very VERY carefully!"

...add to that that Acer has the absolute worst Indian call-center I've ever dealt with... they rarely understand me, and hung up on me twice.

Dude, that sucks. On a semi-related note, I would've guessed you were the build-my-own-machine type.

Intel Core2Duo Wolfdale 3g
gskill 4 gb DDR2
Nvidia 9600GT 512mb GDDR3 PCIe 16x
500gig seagate on SATA
Antec nine-hundred game case (3x 120mm fans and one 200mm exhaust fan)

#13, Fuck no... I'm a nerd, but a lazy nerd... never learned any of that hardcore techie stuff.

#14, the Acer gets close to matching those stats... the C2D is a tad slower, and the Nvidia chip is a rebranded 9400GT 512mb...

The nightmare continues... it's too long, complicated, and depressing to get into, but suffice to say, I have a barely working computer now.

I think I'm just gonna give up... I've directly emailed Acer with a request to return the computer for a refund. But I doubt that'll actually work.

So not a single person within Acer America can authorize a refund of any kind whatsoever, no matter what problem. The wireless card has taken a crap, and now the computer completely freezes when coming out of sleep mode every time.

I'm sending it back to the repair center for a THIRD time... fuck if I know if they'll actually properly fix it this go-around... I swear to God, if I didn't have $700 invested in this thing, I'd have chucked it out of a second-story window by now.

Well, not only did they not properly fix it, they didn't bother to attempt fixing it at all... they just sent a message that read, "computer booted up fine, it's not broken." Fucking assholes.

And, again, they shipped it back to me extremely carelessly. I just... this just keeps getting worse and worse... I'm at my wits end with this fucking god damn computer.
