Description:
Been awhile, but Dad's getting back to work on the 928 project, the final solution to the carb-to-hood clearance (or should I say non-clearance) issues was solved, we're taking the carb/manifold off and replacing it with the FI system of an LT1 engine donated from a wrecked Trans Am. That'll drop things by a few inches and allow us to use the stock hood like we've always wanted to.

Yeah, you wouldn't be able to surprise people with the engine bay if it has a cowl hood...

That cowl sucks anyway. Anything that lets you put the stock hood back on is good in my book.

I wouldn't have even guessed that an LT1 intake and such would adapt to a generation 1 SBC.

#3, The bolt holes all line up, the pattern for intakes didn't change until just recently. They make computers for the FI system that carry just a rudimentary program for firing the injectors that you can set pulse time with so that you can in effect make any SBC block out there a fuel injected one.

#4, there are lots of aftermarket kits for that, aren't there?

#5, Several, it's gotten a lot easier to set up FI in the last few years, in the long run it's better than running a carb anyway, less waste, more power.

#6, Carbs are cool but I agree: having driven/raced two similar cars, one carbed, one FI I must say I favour FI's instant throttle response, smooth starting and ease of maintenance over any coolness a carb might deliver.
