I was just thinking about these earlier today. Can't be too many of the Austins left.

Is it bad I'd kind of want to put a fake piano moving company logo on the door and see if anyone gets the joke?

So was this sold as an Austin in America? I know British Leyland got very screwy with its marques/models for export markets at some points. Does that also mean there was a Morris Allegro at some point, somewhere?

#9, Humorist Dave Barry often alluded to the fact his Dad would often make the worst possible choices when it came to buying the family car and once bought a Hillman Minx.

So, apparently, there was a way for average folk to get ahold of them. Though I think it may have been a thing mostly for people who lived in New York state as that put you close to Canada which was the point-of-entry for a lot of otherwise unobtainable UK marques.

#9, Yeah, they were sold here as Austin Marinas from 1973 to 1975, and in Canada in similar configuration through 1978. They were all 1.8 liters, and either sedans or wagons...the coupes, vans, and pickup versions were never available.

#11, They were also sold in the US as a "Marina GT" 3-door hatchback.

#12, I misspoke....they were all coupes and sedans. The wagon wasn't available.
