The K-platform was decent, and helped save Chrysler... but this was just overextending the capabilities of the platform.. literally and figuratively.

What exactly was the advantage of buying this over, say, a Diplomat/5th Avenue if you were looking for something roomier than the K? If you could afford an executive car, there wasn't any point to pinching pennies.

It seems this was the "compact" option in luxury sedans/limos since oil prices were so high. They thought this would appeal where the V8 RWD Dip/5th Ave was failing. For what it's worth, this car is one of just 9 Executive Sedans built that year. Two slightly longer "7 passenger" Executive Limousines were also built. No more than 759 Executives were ever built in any model year so I guess not too many buyers were impressed by it.

#4, That's kinda what I was asking rhetorically, if you're the kind of guy who needs/can afford an executive limo, you shouldn't be so concerned with the gas bill that you'd even consider this.... the production numbers seem to reflect that.
