#2, ANd, in the case of rural ones, they simply don't have the money to buy new ones that often. Up to 2000, there were 70's era Dodge pickups running around here as bush fire trucks.

#3, same with northern MN. Heck, even in Kansas, my hometown still has Ford cabover fire trucks (don't know the model name) and the 1980s ones with '87-'91 F-Series cabs.

There's still a circa-1962 Ford F-series used by one of the local volunteer fire departments here.

My area uses all modern fire rigs, but there were a couple of local owners who bring out a circa 1938 Dodge fire truck or a 1947 American LaFrance for the 4th of July parade. My city's police department maintains a 1952 Chevy squad car for parades, too.
