haven't decided on the engine yet... 330hp 350 GM Crate? 383 Stroker?

oem/aftermarket support for these cars are not quite there... stuff is still kind of expensive/rare compared to the 60s cars... in a couple more years I think the interest will increase in preserving the last of the carbed RWD cars from GM.

Nice-looking. I really like this style of Monte Carlo.

I just installed the new seats last night - yay! $525 for recovered maroon seats... sheesh. had to take the tracks off the old seats and put them on the new... I ended up having to use a 13mm socket! I thought this was an american car!

Anyways, the new seats, sun visors, and upper door panels look great.

just ordered a new radio bezel trim, new shifter cover, new center console lid, and some red decals to put on after the paint job... running out of money - so will have to start saving up again... the engine itself will set me back $3200 (new crate engine)... she looks so lonely in the garage.

Have you decided what you're going to put in it for an engine yet?

And also, what color do you intend to paint it? Black?

330hp/350 GM Crate engine... with all the goodies (HEI, Carb, etc) already bolted on.

black with no stripes... just the monte carlo ss decals on the driver/passenger doors and one on
the trunk. 2" cowl hood - room for future mods... looking at a Vortec supercharger for carbs too...

Excellent. That should be a nice fun car to drive.

I'm essentially making it into what GM should have produced back in the 80s...

Are all of Vortec's superchargers centrifugal, or do they make Roots blowers, too?

Vortec are centrifugal... I prefer roots myself... but no one is making a supercharger for the heads on the 330hp/350 crate engine - also called Vortec....
so I would have to run the huffer through the main carb instead, which wouldn't be that bad - kinda trick looking too... just a future idea for upgrading.

I remember reading somewhere (probably on our forums) that ATI had come out with a Procharger system for carburetors, too. Supposedly a more elegant system in terms of how it's set up.

Roots blowers are nice, but there is such a thing as too much low-end torque on a street car :-)
Also, running boost at idle has got to be pretty hard on an engine.

ATI eh? Will check it out... roots are great for low end torque... can make a 302 feel like a 460.

#17, Well, that's also a centrifugal, but the setup sounds cleaner than the Vortec. Amazing that there's not a Roots blower for that setup...

whew... just installed new power window switches (to go along with the new upper door panels) and reinstalled the ashtray... whew! that took the longest! nothing more fun than being on your back with a shoplight trying to push in three 7mm screws under the dash...

got new back seat upholstery. - gotta install

got new t-top seals - gotta install

I opened up the t-top plates and found quite a bit of surface rust that I will have to clean out and then POR-15. So I'm also getting some new t-top plates.... sheesh.

still looking for some interior pieces - mostly t-top trim to replace 1 busted piece and one slightly warped piece. You can get too carried away restoring cars I tell ya.

I hate this cold cold winter weather. Hard to do any work in the garage.... gotta get a heater in there.
