#21, He was a hit-and-run troll. He showed up for two days, pissed us off, then left. We haven't heard from him since.

#20, "pointless heavy wheels", I'm sorry, I don't think I would like to see this on those "lightweight" wheels. "Corbners like moms station wagon". Oh yea. it'll sure do horrible in the corners. *rollseyes*

Yeah, those 15 inch Magnum 500s were just so massive and weighty. And it's not like the Boss Mustangs were built with an emphasis on all-around performance or anything.

I heard that the '71 Boss 351 was actually a better performing car than the '71 Boss 429....that true?

considering there is no such thing as a '71 boss 429, yes it's quite true. the weight distribution of the '70 boss 429 was kinda wonky and caused it to perform so so IIRC

#26, I already mentioned that in the first page...the Boss 429 is quoted as running 14.09 in the quarter, with the Boss 351 at 14.10. In other words, it's really too close to call.

BTW, there was no '71 Boss 429. Boss 429s and 302s were made in '69 and '70, and Boss 351s were made in '71.

#27, I'm looking at a picture of a '71 Boss 429 right now, in a book. The book says it was called the Boss 429 Super Cobra Jet.

Whoops...it's a Mach 1, not a Boss. My bad. It just has the same striping and as the car in this picture...that's what got me all configurated...er, I mean, confused.

So apparently, in 1971, both the Boss 351 Mustangs AND the Mach 1 Mustangs had the same striping scheme...sorry for getting confused, everyone.

They were very similar. The only way I can tell them apart is the hood stripe. Mach 1 hood stripe tapers towards the front of the car, following the lines of the hood scoops, whereas the Boss stripe was flat down the sides.

Here's the front of a '71 Mach for comparison: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/tim...ey1971Mach1.jpg

Of course, I did see a Boss 351 once with a Mach 1 hood stripe, but according to the magazine I saw it in it was a factory screw-up.

#33, I'll admit it's pretty damn cool, but, for me, it's still a tie between the '67 GT500 (with stripes and centered grill foglights) and the '69 BOSS 429.

#34, Both fine choices. The Shelby wins in my book, though. :)

1969 is my favorite year, save for the fake quarter scoop. The 1969 Boss 302 lacks it, though, so I suppose that has to be my favorite Mustang by default.
