#2, As I've said before, top (proven) HP for a Ford 3.8 is ~400RWHP. This one is pretty much maxed out; it's been dynoed between 403 and 410 RWHP. It runs somewhere in the mid/high 11's.

#7, No, but some crazy stuff should be happening over the next couple months. Pete (the guy with the 12-second 4.2) has ambitions of going faster and will probably be building another engine soon, and there's another guy who wants to hit 11's with a T4.

I just have to ask why? The 3.8 V-6 is a rattly, slow revving, horrible sounding motor. Not to mention it would be much easier to get that HP out of a 4.6.

#11, You just answered your own question. There are actually people that do it for the challenge.

Also, the 3.8 is not nearly so bad as it once was, plus there is much to be said for its durability, inexpensiveness (I could easily get a new engine for well under $1000, complete, low-mileage), and aftermarket (which is actually not so badly developed as you might think).

Oh, and before I forget, the SOHC 4.6 hasn't proven itself to be that much of a powerhouse. The aftermarket is still sufficiently small that I'd be really surprised to see one go much faster than deep 13's without a poweradder.
