This picture is sorta like if you had two Geo Metro's and a Ferrari 360 Modena, putting the Metro's up front. I love 911's (especially 993's) but thats what a McLaren F1 does, instant emasculation to ANY car you park next to it.

#3, The Bugatti has more power, but the Macca is the better car by far. |

Ehhh....I'd rather take one of the Porsched. McLarens aren't THAT special...they have a high top speed, a high price, and little else.

#5, Have you ever read much about the engineering and time that went into that car? |

#6, A lot of time and engineering goes into all cars. The Porsches have a lot of time and engineering in them, too. |

#7, Yet the McLaren sort of takes craftsmanship to another level compared to the Porsche 911. For example (if a video segment I saw was correct), the body is a hand-laid carbon-fiber monococque, and the car is extensively hand-assembled. The suspension tuning is suposedly top-notch, the engine is a rather impressive unit sourced from BMW, etc. |

#7, There is a 700 page book dedicated to the obsessive detail and planning that went into this car. For example, every nut and bolt was computer designed to be as light, strong, and small as possible for it's given application. There is a whole chapter on the time spent honing the shifter, and I mean it's material, not the mechanism. BMW spent more man hours developing the engine than most manufacturers spen on an entire car, not to mention the custom made gearbox, aerodynamic tuning etc etc etc etc. There isnt one piece of plastic in the entire car, even the instruments are etched into a piece of better than aircraft grade aluminum billet. Kenwood spent millions just developing the stereo system. So, yes, it is rather special. |

#10, And this is relevant to an engine they developed for a supercar intended to be purchased with a manual transmission how? |
