Yeah, it was turbo, as far as i know all of the x4rti's were 2.3L turbos. |

I was just looking at some photos of these cars, and it appears that these things were RWD. I never knew that, not that I gave it too much thought. |

Yeah it was rwd, pretty quick and surprised a lot of people that raced me. A lot of people do the t-5 tranny conversion which is used in a lot of the 80's-early 90's mustangs(i think). I just mention it because its a common mod for people, most people who get these become fanatics too. www.merkurdesktop.com for all your merkur needs. |

#6, Yeah, the T-5 was used extensively in Mustangs since about 1983ish, and variants are still used on the base model today.
The 2.3L turbo cars sort of fascinate me. They seem to have a good aftermarket even today, and they have impressive potential for such small engines. |

yeah, some guy got one over 200 mph with a shitload of mods of course, and the fastest 1/4 ive seen one run was in an issue of muscle mustangs and fast fords and it was an svo running a 10.4x i think. Its a shame the merks got dropped in 89. From what ive seen its relatively easy to get these into the 12-13 second range. |

#9, No kidding, I was reading a book that listed some car makes/models that have been mostly ignored today but may have a collector following/value in the next 30 years, among the models listed, was the Merkur XR's that were sold in America. They specificaly said that parts would be hard to come by since Mercury/Lincoln dealers will pretty much deny they ever sold them in the first place :) |

#8, One page I went to seemed to be saying that the stock bottom end is good for nearly 300 hp?! Not shabby. I don't know how much the Merkurs weighed, but with a Fox-body 'Stang, it really doesn't take much power at all to put one into the 13's or 12's. Doing it with a little 2.3L I4 is even more amusing :-) |

yeah, would have been nice had it been a real dual exhaust, it was the borla system with the split in the back, it was done before i got it though, and i didnt want topay to fix something that didnt really matter to me. |

Mentioned it before, but it's worth saying again: My cousin had a silver one back when I was about 4, and I rode in the trunk once. |

#18, magic, duh. and i had v8 envy, so i would have liked to have had a true dual system due to having a 351 or a 302 in there. but i loved the 4 as well, and meh, it worked for me, and it was pretty quick, or at least quick enough for me |
