#1, Not really...even though the Japanese aren't known for beautiful original designs, ever so often EVERYONE gets it completely right at one time or another...

(Note I said "beatiful original"...the Japanese are very good at making beautiful cars, but the designs usually aren't original, and they are perfectly capable of creating original car designs, but they are seldom not-fugly.)

Apart from the roofline and interior, I never cared too much for the 2000GTs. The bottom line of the door doesn't match the lines of the car at all, the headlights and grille looked tacked on, the taillights looked like they've been busted out if you look at them from the wrong angle (this is the wrong angle), and they were pretty underpowered.

#4, 150HP for a relatively lightweight sports car wasn't considered underpowered in the 60's.

#5, Ok, well then, I guess it takes a non-Japanese person to design a beautiful AND original Japanese car... :P

#6, They weren't that light, though. Not as light as they look, at just over 2500 lbs. I've always heard that they were a bit underpowered for the type of car they were.

#9, I think they did 60 in about 8 seconds. Plenty fast for the day.

Sorry - but the 2000GT's do nothing for me.

It's just not a 240-280Z.

#7, Who designed the FD RX7 for Mazda? I can't think of much that looks like it, and I like it. :-P

#11, I don't understand why not. This was even styled by the same man. The original design was for this car, Toyota had more modern body presses, allowing more complex curves. I think they are both very attractive, but the 2000GT, minus some fussy details, is far prettier.

#14, Um, no, because I can think of several Japanese cars I'd rather have than anything I've driven. This isn't one of them.

#16, Possibly, but it isn't nice to say so. It's very presumptous, and reversely predjudiced.

#14, nope. I still think the 240Z's are better.

#14, Oh bitch bitch bitch...

Goddammit, we aren't a bunch of dumbasses that like or dislike a car based on where it was built. Get over yourself.

I like these cars. I don't "fall over" every muscle car, I like them, and I like this. For different reasons.
