I've owned more domestics than imports and so far the worst import has still been better than the best domestic.
But thats because I don't get in anything like Hyndia or Kia.

I can't comment on quality, every car I've ever owned was a basket case when I got it....
though the family's 95 explorer just had new plugs put in it, it was STILL running on the factory ones, despite the fact the electrodes had all worn down to the point where they were BELOW the level of the insulator. Now that's reliablity :)

#10, my most reliable car so far has been a domestic...a mercury mountaineer. My '91 Buick is pretty reliable...at least for a 13 year old car. My '97 Altima was ok for reliability, but just didn't seem very well put together.
If you look at JD Edwards, the Buick Regal has higher quality than the Camry or Maxima. But that is generally true with Buick overall. Domestics are now actually higher quality than European imports.

Every country makes good and bad vehicles, just as every company. On the whole I prefer American cars, just when I look at the cars for their individual merits, and tend to think of Japanese cars as being at the bottom of the barrel. That's not to say that there aren't Jap cars that I like or U.S. cars that I dislike.
Everyone rags on Kia all the time, I found my mother's 2000 Sephia to be a good car, apart from the quality of the interior fittings.

So far my 1992 Integra has been the best so far. Still have it now and since it was new the only things changed from original has been the muffler (stock one rusted out in like two years) and the rear wheel bearings. Other than that its only been the standard filters and fluid changes for the car.

#13, My best one was the Camaro. I ran it from 100,000 to 150,000 miles and all I ever had to do apart from routine maintenance was put an alternator on it. My sister has run it to about 170,000 since she got it and has only had to buy a fuel pump.

my biggest complaint about Japanese vehicles is they weren't designed for my 6'3" in mind... and the fact that I'm a Michigander - which sees some local benefits out of Ford, GM, and Chrysler... so it's better to buy from them. I prefer to buy from a company that shovels more money back into our community.

We've had a few Explorers. All of ours, except our 98 have had major problems. The 98 is on its second tranny. Yay! We also had a very good 92 Capri covertible. We sold it because I couldn't sit in the back seat after a year of growth. My dads Tracker has been super, reliabilty wise. Looks, on the other hand, not so. We are keeping the Tracker just cause.

Yeah, some of the older Jap cars you can watch the rust form faster than paint can dry.
My 1983 Camaro was sort of middle of the field for me in quality. By the time it hit 160000 I had to sell it as things were breaking left, right, and center. But it was completely rust free.
