yeah, chevy is going to offer a "tuna" aveo soon...it looks so ugly, and it just has an intake/exhaust for engine mods

#5, [killing joke] Since this vehicle is produced in Korea, it is not eligible for Nascar competition. [/killing joke]

A vehicle has to be built in America for a Nascar racer based on its looks to enter Nascar competition.

I still want to see Volkswagen field the Passat in NASCAR.

#6, Well, Nascar obviously killed that requirement with allowing the Chevy SS to compete...

Though, there are rumors that Chevrolet felt it wasn't getting enough exposure/marketing from their involvement/investment in Nascar, and was considering leaving... so that's why Nascar bent for them.

It's also rumored to be the reason for the new "Gen 6" car, which actually incorporates actual production styling into the cars, unlike the "Car of Tomorrow" that preceded it, where every manufacturer's vehicle was identical except for slight variations in the rear quarter windows and front fascia... oh, and of course, headlights stickers.

#9, I'm also rather amused when I watch Nascar these days... in my head, I'm watching the Toyota Camry do battle with Holden Commodores and Ford Mondeos...

#10, well all three are sold in AU. Part of the reason I was wondering about Nissan is because I know they're in V8Supercars now. So wouldn't having the Altima in NASCAR boost the cred here?

#11, It's a huge investment to engineer and run a vehicle in Nascar's top series, and some accounting may not justify it... just ask FiatChrysler. They already had the engine, chassis, and body, but with only handful of independent teams on board, they decided it wasn't worth it.

#12, ah, dang. The other reason I brought up Honda was the same. They have TLX GT race car (yes, I know its an Acura, but still.) Kinda sad, really. I mean, I am not a rabid NASCAR fan (like I used to be in 2000-2004 or 2005, but its still interesting to think about "what-if" other manufacturers jumped in.

In regards to V8 Supercars... I've been hearing scuttlebutt that there may be fact-finding going on, to see the feasibility of eventually merging V8 Supercars, JGTC, and DTM all into the same series... or, at the very least, all of them have roughly similar specs/requirements for their cars...

#14, yup. I've been reading up on that too. It'd be like a tiered series, sort of like GT-class racing is now, with LMP1 and sub-classes below it.
