lets see here
ford - 30 grand for a small truck with no crew cab and weak engines
chevy - brand new truck 29-k truck that has a 5-cylinder that performs like a 4, uses gas like a 6, and has a 5-dollar interior (where does the money go?)
dodge - ugly redesign with the only V8, which also manages to be weaker and slower with a load than other 6-cylinders in the test, unless you pay more for the high-output engine, which means about 35k (35 grand for a midsize truck?!)

nissan - for 29 grand you get a ton of options, lots of room, the strongest motor in the class, and great handling
toyota - quality, durability, a strong motor, and all for the same price as a ranger

hmm...if i was in the market for a midsize truck, which one would i pick? duuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh gee, i really dont know
i love dakotas...i mean, i used to, before they went all fugly
a ranger seems like a nice truck until you look at the price
and a colorado is just shit, not defending it there
i really hate to beat on "domestics", but american truck designers are just lazy fucks, while nissan and toyota are trying to give consumers exactly what they want

#2, It's really a shame to see the US companies getting beaten in a market that once belonged to them =/ but on the bright side the next generation of american trucks will have to be pretty good to keep up, so things will hopefully get better.

#3, exactly, all of a sudden they are beaten in their own market, which they have dominated for decades, and all because they just got lazy...i'm anxious to see a redesigned ranger or the next dakota though, those might be pretty nice...once the US companies actually figure out that the current-gens just arent cutting it anymore

I really don't see the point in a crew cab on a midsize truck. to me with that short of a bed it makes the truck about useless. out of the brand new ones the Ranger is the only only one that I don't think is ugly. IMO Toyota and Nissan should have left the outsides alone.

#15, the comparison lists the prices, thats what i go by...and you're right, the chevy and the ford ARE compacts, but why the hell are they the same price as something that is bigger, stronger, and has way more options? why would chevy charge near 30 grand for a truck with an inferior 5-cylinder, and a shitty interior?

#8, yeah im so biased against domestic trucks thats why i drove a ranger myself and liked it, and thats why i always compliment rangers and older dakotas on here, dont even start with that shit

#5, obviously many people do see the point of one...how about hauling your family in it the whole week, and going to get soil or home depot supplies on the weekends? why do you need two cars for something that a crew-cab midsize truck can do

#19, so you're saying a truck should be a multipurpose vehicle? If you need hauling space, and cargo room, get a van or a stationwagon. It's not that hard.
