1979 Z/28. Incidentally, 1979 is still the highest production year for the Camaro, for some reason, at 282,571 cars. |

#15, Not surprisingly, it's also the highest production year for the Firebird. The reason? I'd wager it's simply because they were the only show in town by that point for a "performance" coupe. All other makes/models had largely been discontinued, AMC was out, Mopar was out, and the only serious competition was the Mustang, which had largely become pathetic by the late 70's |

#17, Camaro production dropped to around 150,000 in 1980....the Foxstang and the 1979 fuel crisis were probably the reasons. |
