Description:
leaf springs do NOT belong on anything other than heavy-duty trucks...what good are they on a car or pickup? i see so many nice muscle car buildups with high-tech parts, and then the owner goes and slaps on leaf springs...what's wrong with a nice 3 or 4 link setup and airbags or coilovers?

i'm in love with airbag setups now...the ride is great, you can lower or raise your car in seconds, and it handles better...plus it works better on off-road trucks than leafs...what's not to like, besides a few extra pounds from the tank and compressor, but then again, leafs arent light either, so it probably evens out

#4, no, i mean when people restore muscle cars and put modern engines and trannys into them, but put back the stock leafs

Air bags? Come on, two control arms (or four link), two coil springs, anti-roll bar, maybe a Panhard and you're good to go!

Resale value.

Resorting a car that orginally came with leaf-springs will not increase it's value if it has airbags.

#8, Don't think he was refering to restoring a vehicle. I assume this because of the part that says "buildups with high-tech parts". IMO a build up is much different than restoring a vehicle.

Basically, ambient is saying people who build "G Machines" aka pro tourers should not put leaf springs in? Agreed.

#2, it would be a cold day in hell before I would put air bags on a car. once you have to deal with them not working right you get fed up with them real fast

#5, Cost, I"d imagine, plus, I'm not that interrested in creating a corner-carver, and I want to keep most of the car original, and there's nothing "wrong" with leaf springs in that they aren't fundamentaly flawed or dangerous to use, so I'll keep using them. Replacing them isn't the be all and end all in terms of handling
