Here it is, at long last: Mad Max's 1970 Ford Mustang. Yeah, that's me lookin' silly in the picture. But it's the best one I've got.

Sad news from Max Land... yesterday the Thunderbird became the victim of an idiot in a white K-car van. I was driving into an intersection on green, and he turned directly in front of me. I think I set the world record for the closest a car has ever come to turning a square corner trying to avoid him, but I ended up bouncing my driver's side front fender off his passenger-side front fender. It was clearly the other guy's fault, so he gets to pay for my repairs. The damage is minor enough that the car probably won't be totalled out, though anything's possible when dealing with the Insurance Mafia. If they do total it, I'm getting another SuperCoupe or something comparable with the settlement. In the meantime, I'm driving my Mustang to work until I get a rental organized from the Insurance Mafia. My Mustang has no A/C and a black interior, and it hit 98 here today. So that's a good car to be driving right now... IF YOU'RE SATAN.

GAH, I am rather pissed off right now at the plethora of fucking idiot drivers, largely in big vehicles, who cant fucking navigate turns. 5 times in the past 5 DAYS I've nearly been hit, but only saved by my own defensive driving. SO AGGRAVATING! I'm tempted to slap some ungrateful bastard with raised insurance rates by letting them hit my car. Defensive driving can be a bitch.

dude. suck. The bigass scar down my driver's rear quarter (now gone, thankfully) was caused by a dumbass in a Toyota Tacoma that he had had for 6 hours. Two lanes turned left, and he didn't turn. Drove straight into me.

i know i was almoast hit twice in the past week by big trucks that would have probally killed my little truck (6552) that i havent even owened 2 mo. so someone would have baught it from me, before i paid it off, maybe it would help if you needed a different licens to drive big trucks.

definitely, the DMV/Police need to crack down on the dumbfucks driving vehicles with long wheelbases. Anybody have a failsafe plane to get hit and make the other person pay?? hehe

Darn, that sucks, the feeling of after-the-crash is the worst, when you know you're allright, but you know the car isn't. YOu've got my sympathies Max, since I got my car, I've been in 3 near misses and one collision, I swear, people look at you and see the words "Hit Me"

what I hate is when I narrowly avoid getting hit or turned into or some shit and I lean on the horn and the idiot looks at me like, "What's your problem?" Like it's my fault.

yes thats the worst, today when I almost got him, I LAYED on the horn, and threw the bird out the window :Þ but then the guy yelled "FUCK YOU" as he passed...did he NOT realize he was in MY lane?

All but one of my near misses have come the same way, old people turning left in front of me at intersections, the collision was me getting backed into by an old guy in a Caddy at an ATM

People are just as bad when they're parked, too. I have a ding right behind my driver's-side door because some putz in a truck (apparently, by the height) opened the friggin' door into my then brand-new car. If I ever find him, he WILL never be heard from again.

Oh, and it's a real pity about the Thunderbird, Max. Those are great cars--I ALMOST regret having ditched my LX a year ago. Great daily drivers and they can't be beat on the highway. (Mine was just the base model v6, very high mileage with flaky power accessories--the icing on the cake was when the air conditioner evaporator croaked. Possibly over $1000 of repairs on a car barely worth $1000..um, no.)

Yeah, the Insurance Mafia will PROBABLY say "repair it." Plus, I'm tight with the guy who runs the repair shop, so he'll send them a lowballed estimate and then raise the price one item at a time instead of sending them a massive estimate and causing my car to get totalled. But if it should happen to get totalled, I'm definitely getting another SC or a black Lincoln Mark VIII.

oh, and I dunno if you ever read my earlier post, but I highly recommend M/T ET Street tires since the car's a fair-weather only vehicle.

I'll see what I can do. And for Jurrell and the rest of you sick-minded crash fetishists, I'll get a pic of the damage up pretty soon. I'll warn you, it's not too spectacular. I succeeded in turning a 45-mph T-boning into a 10-mph glancing blow. A $4000 glancing blow, but STILL...

If you don't want em to total it, tell em you've had people offer you $6k for it. Like me. Right now.
