#4, My budget is $5k. It has to be newer than 10 years old, and I am primarily a truck person. What would you reccomend for that price?

Why does it have to be so new? I would just get something older with a brand new drivetrain. |

Anyway, just yesterday I saw a red '95 monte carlo z34 with 72k miles for $4900 on a deler lot. You just need to look harder...or just go on ebay. |

#6, my dad is setting the standards. He belives that any old car would be a mechanical problem. He also belives newer = cheaper to maintain. Also, he wants me to get a newer vehicle so if it gets wrecked, it won't "be totaled as easily". Also, it has to have a driver's airbag. |

#8, heck, older is cheaper to maintain - reman. starter for my malibu was only $40 ;)
you just have to worry about the big stuff breakin more!
seriously, I would get a nice mid-90s Toyota truck - co-worker here at 300,000 miles on his '92 with minimal upkeep - the frame finally rusted through from the MI salt so he finally got rid of it...
or buy a cheap S10/S15 and throw a little more money into maintenance... learn how to work on cars and do it yourself to save money on labor. |

#12, I like the blue one the best. Sad thing is, the vehicle Im getting (if indeed my dad does get me a vehicle) is gonna be in Kansas. My dad lives in Lawrecne, and I live in Lawrence till May '06. |

Kstagger just posted 4 trucks within the price range under 100k miles, one as low as 67k...and you go ahead and post another one with 140k :P

#16, well, here's the reason. The vehicle will be bought by my dad. He lives in Kansas, which is also where I am till May of '06. |

So? You think low-mileage s10's only exist by kstagger? Are they all concentrated in his immediate area?

#18, um no. I can't find any within 50 miles of Lawrence. I looked on Autotrader and cars.com. Both turned up nothing. |
