But why not get a NON-off roader...because, face it, your not going off-road in that anytime soon, and the inherent handling characteristics of a CAR would be a hell of a lot better than this brick in drag. But it does look quite nice, yes. |

Well the top-level Range Rover sport has a 4.2L V8 with an SC that kicks out 385 horses. But it's built to travers rocks and submerged bits of road not to tackle hair pin turns. I'd imagine this has some suspension adjustments judging by the ride height and it looks to have some fairly wide tires. I'd imagine it might not do too badly on your average race track. |

But, the point of having an off-roader is to go off road. Why would you need 480, or even 385 horses to do that? Logic would suggest any car with 385 horse would leave this for dead around a track. You can only defy physics for so long. And, why the heck would you take a Rangie to a track anyway? Well, except to tow the race car. |

#4, I was just proposing a "what if" scenario, sure there's no point in trying to manuever a brick like the Range Rover around a track, although it would be interesting to see. But if there was a good hp/torque ratio and a stock Range rover suspension I'd imagine it might do a good job offroad.

yeah, but the whole modified SUV thing strikes me as a bit pointless. Like huge horsepower and torque, coupled with traction control. |

#6, Yeah, take that safety crap off the differential. But as far as modern race modded SUVs go, I usually find them about as interesting as Super Duties with slammed suspensions.

Super duty: big fuck off pickup truck? Not american, remember.
But the traction control thing goes along the lines of: If you don't have the TCS on, you'll be frying tyres all day and not really go anywhere. With it on, it holds your car back so you don't really need the power and torque to begin with. Started thinking along these lines after seeing a 1000Nm benz in action, with and without the TCS |

#8, Yeah, that's an apt description of a 1-Ton series. I thought you said TCS was pointless by the way you worded your reply, my bad. |

He was an exchange student but only stayed from the beginning of my senior year til around January. I think he had a college scholarship or something of that nature and needed to leave to pursue his studies. I never talked to him seeing as how he hung around the kids I couldn't stand. |
