90 might be a bit too much. my current autmotive instructor has a stock civic dx that puts 91 to the wheels. this guy definately lost power with the "high flow" cats which do nothing and lost torque with his dual exhaust system, and depending on how he installed his intake, that's probably another 7-15 horses lost there.
Edit: Almost forgot, you KNOW this guy is serious about looks AND performance though because he listed a "rear anteanna" as a "mod".

#41, Agree with the lost low-end torque. The intake probably gave him +3 hp but the added weight dispelled that right away.
Its not that bad to me except for the 90% pointless mods.

#44, 90% of all those cold air intakes actually lose horsepower. we've done it at school. doesn't matter what brand. guy dynos stock car, puts on cai, loses 7-15 horses on average, guy denies fact, leaves CAI on. some of them actually put the stock intakes back on when they realize the engineers at Honda or wherever know far more than they ever will. |

#45, One reason I just attached a cone filter to the stock intake tube...thinking about wasting money at a dyno day somewhere to compare the stock box and the cone.
#44, a cold air intake isnt gonna add THAT much weight.

#46, don't expect much, if any at all. you still have to push the air through the same diameter throttle body.
save your money for before and after you do a bigger mod.

#47, I didnt expect much from a dying 14 year old motor anyway. But I did see an mpg increase, so it is leaning out the mixture a bit. |

it shouldn't be leaning out your mixture, at least not noticibly. ultimately your O2 sensor decides the mixture (with other variables thrown in) |

#49, Odd. Because I really did see an increase. 2 or 3 mpg, but still an increase.

#49, A CAI can potentiall provide more power but it depends on how it was built. If it is less efficient than the stock, then you will loose power. Just because its stock doesn't mean its bad. A CAI will also be noiser hence why manuf. don't use them. Ex. CAI is shinny but has a bunch of bends in it but the stock was a straight shot.
You will lose mpg if you driving habit doesn't change and if the CAI is efficient. The computer tries to make sure you have the best air/fuel ratio around the 14:1 range. More air = more fuel.
If you see a mpg increase, the user's driving habit has changed to accept the 5 hp increase. |

#45, You've got a point. That 'ugly shitty' stock intake is designed to work best with stock ECU, throttle body and head, why do ricers think that a piece of tubing plus a cone filter (usually crammed between the gearbox and exhaust manifold) will better that? Same is with exhaust system. |
