#3, I wasn't going to saw that but yeah. This dog is kinda cute though. I don't mean to disparage your dog but when the ban came into effect there was a large number of "he was so nice...then he just ripped my baby's face off"

I agree on Pit Bulls having a shadey past. And I was not a big fan of them at all. Even having known a few people that have owned them and never had any problems I was still very leary.
However, Blue was very malnurished, which is why she appears so skinny in the pic, to the point you could see her ribs moving as she breathed.
Even with my distrust of Pit bulls I did not want to see this one being so young starve to death. She was born and raised with very young children around, and so far its very easy to see that as she is very gentle and trusts everyone see meets.

#8, Not real concered as the chances of it happening are very slim. A dog generally doesn't just go crazy, although some do sometimes sue to medical reasons.
Another huge factor is the fact that its a female. In 2000 and 2001 there were 28 fatal attacks in the US. 26 of them were by male dogs. |

Dogs don't just randomly snap and kill people, but in my case, it attacked me on sight. |

#3, I blame it on the dumbass (most of the time) owners who breed them to fight. Not the dogs fault that stupid rednecks mistreat them. A city around here actually banned these dogs.

I think I may have actually mixed up Pitbulls with Rotweilers. |

Pit Bulls, like all other dogs, aren't inherently dangerous. But after decades of having their breed raised to attack/kill/fight other dogs, a stigma obviously develops. Lots of times in the news when a human is hurt or killed from a dog attack, the animal in question is just dismissed as being a "pitbull" even if it's not even in the same breed. It really is a form of racism. |

#18, And asshats such as Michael Vick don't help any.
There's one at the shelter I volunteer at who is apparently the sweetest thing going.

Never worry about the breed of the dog. Worry about a dog's state of mind. Pit bulls aren't an unstable breed. If you don't give your dog exercise, disipline, then affection, all dog's will be unstable.
But no matter what scientific proof you have, no matter how well, lovingly, and passively the behavior, it doesn't matter. People will pass laws against your existence. People point fingers everywhere you walk. They say "you need to be like this other type. They are more loyal." They show you examples of how you are so bad. "See, look at the news! You're just like them. You're bad."
You prove you are no different but its more fun to go with the generalization approach of good and evil than deal with the reality of individuality.
What would you do in this case, knowing all of this? Eh, you're just a dog. Doesn't matter. |
