Description:
Half Gremlin, half twisted El Camino, All ugly. Again from http://www.arcticboy.com .
This is NOT a custom car, it was a concept car by AMC. It's called the Jeep Cowboy. I
know it's not really rice at all, but I thought people should see how messed up AMC was.

Hey, how come no one wants to comment on this car? Is everyone too disgusted by it to do so?

Ok sorry, I think the Gremlin is ok looking (in a quirky sort of way) but this concept is just....ugh...and to label it a Jeep?! Good Lord No!

IT's not that bad. Just incredably 70's. The 70's were known for some.... erm... rather... uh... "appearence handicapped" cars. To put it mildly. lol

Would anyone think any less of me if I said I like this car? Wait, don't answer that...

I like it and being a Mopar probably had something nasty under the hood

It's an AMC, which wasn't part of Mopar yet. And it IS a Gremlin, so it's probably just the inline 6, *maybe* a 304.

Not rice at all but very '70's A very bad time for north American car manufacturers.
It's different for sure.

Actualy, I consulted my "History of the Jeep" handbook, and the AMC Cowboy was listed as a concept car that never went into production, this one is probably the lone example. And I don't think it's that horrid. But as was mentioned upthread, AMC was in dire straits financialy, and couldn't afford a separate production line to make em' Reminds me of a book I once saw in a store, it was called "The great cars Detroit never made" or somthing like that. Had bunches of oddball concepts and some that were actually pretty neat, but none were ever produced

Had they made this a unibody AMC Hornet ute with better integration of the cab and bed, I'd have loved it and it might have been an interesting budget competitor to the El Camino and Ranchero.
