It's not so surprising. Before they became widely known as "Altezzas" they were "Euro-style lights".
Europe is in the West. The Chinese aren't supposed to like Western things :P

Uhm, I'm pretty sure those are British plates... and I can almost make out that the Civic is RHD...

Those plates use a two-letter prefix, which as far as I know hasn't been used in Britian for years.

I will say, though, that the prefix "M" at the start of a British plate denotes an August 1994 – July 1995 registration window, which seems accurate for this particular car.
