#5, Point. People are doing some amazing things with K series these days. Someone got a K24 to put down 250whp using just one cam profile (no vtec). TSX K24s with Type-S K20 heads are pretty potent motors too, easily breaking the 200whp mark. Apparently theyre good for turbos too, since there are a number of "reliable" setups putting down over 4-500.. |

#7, To my knowledge, there isnt a much better option without going turbo. |

#8, i would have went turbo, these cars have a turbo kinda personality. i think the lack of a turbo option is what made these cars not sell very well. |

I'd rather if they'd have just offered the higher-spec version of the 2zz that was available in the Celica. The MR2 version only had what, 120 hp?
In a lightweight car with a small engine, I think I'd prefer either using a positive displacement supercharger a la Exige S, or use something NA and very high revving. I think instantaneous response trumps power in cars like these. |

I'd rock the N/A power myself, a 200+ horse high compression 4-banger would be more than enough to whet my appetite. And I also happen to think an MR2 is a fine candidate for such a swap. |

Best swap I can think of would be a Radical 'Busa V8 - 350 or so HP, 220 or so Lb. ft and 15,000 RPM with a sequential/clutch shift. |
