Hey, I like 'em too. They're not ugly.
I can appreciate an aesthetically decent car design, even if the design is for a cheap little rattletrap.

...and on some level I also appreciate that these things get ~40-45 real world mpg.

#3, Well that's obviously a better car, I was just saying the Metro wasn't a horrible car for what it was.

#4, oh i completely agree, i'm just sayin if i was to choose a car for nothing other than gas mileage, i'd pick a CRX

#5, Problem is, the Metro's used values are only driven higher by hyper-milers... the CRX's used values are driven higher by hyper-milers AND boy-racers. >_<

"Why yes sir, we have this completely ragged-out '89 CRX with 298,000 miles on it for only this one-time low price of four thousand dollars! I'll throw in some spinning wheel-covers for free!"

#6, very true, but in my opinion, the CRX's 'cooler' image makes it more desirable.

#8, I like the '92-'95 Civic hatches, and probably earlier Nissan Sentras and equal vintage Tercel hatches for economy + sporty purposes. I also like GTIs and A3s and such and obviously the R53 Minis and original Coopers as well.

#9, Those are my favorite Civic hatches.

My granparents used to have a green 92 sedan

Saw a mild rusty 80's Sprint/Firefly today for sale. If it's manual, I'd be interested even if it's rusted. I have to check it out.

#12, The best MPG I can see (at least from official figures) for a Del Sol is 30 city/37 highway for the 1.5 manual model. This is equivalent to the highest trim level, automatic equipped Metros. Metro XFIs had both figures well into the 40s.
