My understanding was that they only came in black because having only 1 color sped up production, and black paint dries the fastest.

I know the Pre-War Model T's were available in colors other than black, right? But those had the much older-style headlamps and more ornate brasswork on the grille.

I think it was only the first two or three years of production (up until 1912 or so) that came in multiple colors. A lot of later Ts have been repainted, though.

I also think that for the first couple of years the T's were hand made.

The rear license plate frame on this car says "No, I'm not the original owner." I chuckled.
