The styling is up for debate, but I have to applaud Nissan for actually making the newer Z-car shorter and lighter than the one before. I always love it when an automaker comes to their senses and try to reign in bloat and extra-weight, rather than just trying to add more shit that their marketing department can tout in ads.

The simple, midsize Accord of the '80s and early '90s was "more legroom"-ed and "more trunk-space"-ed into the bloated, large brute we know today.

I was on the fence about this before, espescially with the new front end and wild taillights. But I think for the most part they scored a hit. Like DiRF said, it's smaller and lighter (not just one of those "HURR lets add 400 lbs in brakes and wheels and throw in a monster power adder" situations) and the styling is a lot more aggressive, in a good way.

The only real styling element that I have issue with are the boomerang lights. SCE responded to the consumer reaction and ditched THEIR attempt at boomerang styling...

Yes, the wheel arches and wheels look ridiculously big, but that's because the car IS overall smaller than the outgoing model. Look at a late C3 Corvette... those 18 inch wheels look positively HUGE on it... and it's the same deal here. When you keep a car smaller and less bloated, you don't need 25" wheels to make the wheels "seem" large.

#5, It's not so much the wheels, it's those damn flares. They stick about 2 feet out from the body. I also don't care for the boomerang lights or the "vampire fangs" in the grille.

I also, however, applaud the smaller weight combined with the larger engine (I assume this is a 3.7 liter engine, right? Or are the codes applied to these cars just arbitrary now?).

No, it's the same 3.7 that Infiniti has crammed into their G-cars... but with more power, actually.

The front end looks like an angry fish from Disney. Not a big fan of the front but the side looks really nice. I like the rear a lot more than the 350z. A v6 w/ 330 HP isn't bad.
